House District 49 is unique because it is made up of many communities, each with its own, independent voice. We are also connected by many common issues: jobs, transportation, water, and open space between communities.
House District 49 is unique because it is made up of many communities, each with its own, independent voice. We are also connected by many common issues: jobs, transportation, water, and open space between communities, just to name a few.
Before getting involved on the Thompson R2J School Board (District G), I served on Berthoud’s Planning and Zoning Commission, and on the past two Berthoud Master Plan Committees, as well as related sub-committees. I worked to understand where our community has come from, and to listen to where we want to go. I learned that what happens in Berthoud increasingly matters in the suburbs of Fort Collins or in Estes Park, because we work and trade in the region, not just in our own towns.
How can we build thriving communities?
If our communities are to thrive, it’s not enough to just listen to what people are talking about in House District 49. We need a representative who knows the local planning issues, and who knows how to introduce those into the debate in the state house in order to produce legislation that works for our communities, not against them. To truly thrive, we need to start listening to one another so that we can work together to keep Northern Colorado one of the best places to live in this great country.
