Karen Stockley For Larimer County Commissioner

Hi.  My name is Karen Stockley and I'm running for Larimer County Commissioner.  I have lived in Colorado for over 45 years, and I love this place many of us call home.
For more than 20 years, I have been a public servant.  I have served on many boards and commissions, including Berthoud's Planning and Zoning, and the Thompson R2J Board of Education.  I believe volunteerism is an important part of participating in our communities and getting to know our neighbors.  I believe in giving back to our community, and helping to shape our world for future generations.

I am also a business owner.
As a business owner of a shop in Ft. Collins, I can relate to the challenges of being an employer and running a business in this difficult economy.  I believe it's important to keep a business-friendly environment, so many locally-owned businesses can grow and thrive during these tough times.  I will do my best to support these small local businesses, as they are the job creators we need today.

I am a wife and mother. Family is important to me, as well as our quality of life in northern Colorado.  I want to live and raise my children in a safe place, with good schools and safe neighborhoods.  I believe all Coloradoans want the same for their families and communities.  I will work to keep our special places beautiful and protected for future generations to enjoy.

And finally, I want a government that listens to the needs of their citizens. I promise you that as your elected official, I will always hear your concerns and deliver to you honest governance.  As a taxpayer, you deserve a representative who understands the needs of the citizens, and puts those needs first.

I believe I can do the hard work and make the best decisions, with honesty and integrity, if I can earn your vote.
